A (Not So Small) Story

When I was in High School, I met a lady who told me verbatim that if I was thinner, I would be prettier.

The fact that I remember this lady and her words means that it hurt me at the time that they were said. I did not grow up with any body image issues or whatnot and for that, I thank my mother so much.

Back to the story: As I grew older, I realised that those were not words that an older lady should tell an impressionable teenager. I also realised later as I knew more of her that she was/is a bitter lady who needed prayers more than anything. I forgive her, however, at the point where we are to meet again, I will have a word or two with her (nothing harsh of course, just some truths).

What is the point of this story: Be careful what you say.

Have a lovely day ladies and gents.

  1. I had a “friend” who asked me “you don’t feel bad because you are fat?”at that time i was so sensitive i went home to cry.In retrospect i think she image issues.,needless to say she is an ex friend.
